The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
