Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus was the truth established, and their doings proved in vain. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
