And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
