He it is Who sends down water from the cloud for you; it gives drink, and by it (grow) the trees upon which you pasture. 10 With it He causes to grow for you the crops, the olives, the date-palms, the grapes, and every kind of fruit. Verily! In this is indeed an evident proof and a manifest sign for people who give thought. 11 And He has subjected to you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His Command. Surely, in this are proofs for people who understand. 12 And there are also Signs for those who take heed in the numerous things of various colours that He has created for you on earth. 13 And He it is who has made the sea subservient [to His laws,] so that you might eat fresh meat from it, and take from it gems which you may wear. And on that [very sea] one sees ships ploughing through the waves, so that you might [be able to] go forth in quest of some of His bounty, and thus have cause to be grateful [to Him]. 14 And He has cast great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with you, and rivers and roads that you may go aright, 15 as well as [various other] means of orientation: for [it is] by the stars that men find their way. 16 Is then He Who creates like one that creates not? Will ye not receive admonition? 17 If you count the favours of God you will not be able to calculate. Assuredly God is forgiving and kind. 18 Allah knows all that you conceal and all that you disclose. 19 Those whom they call upon beside Allah have created nothing; rather, they themselves were created; 20 They are dead, not living; nor do they know when they will be raised to life. 21
