(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
