Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
