The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
