The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
