The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
