The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
