The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
