The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
