The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We woke them up again so that We might see which of the two groups would better calculate the time they had stayed there. 12
