۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
