And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
