And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong. 31 Nor come nigh to adultery: for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil, opening the road (to other evils). 32 Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law). 33 Come not nigh to the orphan's property except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength; and fulfil (every) engagement, for (every) engagement will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). 34 While weighing, use proper measurements in the exchange of your property. This is fair and will be better in the end. 35 Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Verily the ear, the eye, the heart, each will be questioned. 36 And walk not in the earth exultantly; certainly thou wilt never tear the earth open, nor attain the mountains in height. 37 All this-- the evil of it-- is hateful in the sight of your Lord. 38 That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished. 39 Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying! 40
