Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
