The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
