And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
