The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 By the roof elevated. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 No one can avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
