So they both proceeded: until, when they were in the boat, he scuttled it. Said Moses: "Hast thou scuttled it in order to drown those in it? Truly a strange thing hast thou done!" 71 He replied: "Did I not tell you that you will not be able to patiently bear with me?" 72 Musa said: take me not to task for what I forget, and impose not in my affair hardship. 73 The two went on till they came to a boy, whom he killed. Moses exclaimed: "You have killed an innocent soul who had taken no life. You have done a most abominable thing!" 74 ۞ He said: "Did I not tell you that you will not be able to patiently bear with me?" 75 Moses said: "Keep me no more in your company if I question you concerning anything after this. You will then be fully justified." 76 So they went on until they came to a town. They asked its people for food, but were refused hospitality. They found a wall in the town which was about to fall down. His companion buttressed it and Moses said, "Had you wished, you could have demanded payment for your labours." 77 He said: This is the parting between thee and me! I will announce unto thee the interpretation of that thou couldst not bear with patience. 78 "As for that boat, it belonged to some needy people who toiled upon the sea - and I desired to damage it because [I knew that] behind them was a king who is wont to seize every boat by brute force. 79 As for the youth, his parents were believers and we feared that he would trouble them by rebellion and denial of truth. 80 "So we desired that their Lord would give them in exchange (a son) better in purity (of conduct) and closer in affection. 81 "The wall belonged to two young orphans in the town whose father had been a righteous man, and a treasure of theirs lay underneath it. So your Lord wanted them to come of age and then to dig up their treasure as a mercy from Him. I did not do [it] of my own accord. That is the explanation of the things about which you were not able to restrain yourself." 82
