By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
