The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
