When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
