The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
