Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
