And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
