In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (Here is) a surah which We have revealed and enjoined, and wherein We have revealed plain tokens, that haply ye may take heed. 1 The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. 2 The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been made unlawful to the believers. 3 And those who accuse chaste women and do not bring four witnesses to testify – punish them with eighty lashes and do not ever accept their testimony; and it is they who are the wicked. 4 except those among them that afterwards repent and mend their ways. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 5 Those who accuse their wives and do not have any witnesses except themselves, should swear four times in the name of God, the testimony of each such person being that he is speaking the truth, 6 Then the fifth time he shall declare that Allah's curse be upon him if he be false (in his charge). 7 And it shall avert the chastisement from her if she testify four times, bearing Allah to witness that he is most surely one of the liars; 8 And the fifth time, that the wrath of Allah be upon her if the man is truthful. 9 And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you (He would have hastened the punishment upon you)! And that Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, the All-Wise. 10
