Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
