The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
