The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
