The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
