And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
