Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
