Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
