He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
