The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
