Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
