When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
