The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie. 5 Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; 7 Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. 11 And afterward We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties would best calculate the time that they had tarried. 12
