Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains. 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He may destroy them because of that which they have earned, and He may pardon many of them. 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 And the recompense of evil is punishment like it, but whoever forgives and amends, he shall have his reward from Allah; surely He does not love the unjust. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
