Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
