۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
