۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
