Surely We have created man, and We know the promptings of his heart, and We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein. 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 He utters not a word, but there is a vigilant watcher at hand. 18 and (the human being will be told), "This is what you had been trying to run away from". 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 (It will be said): 'Of this you have been heedless. Therefore, we have now removed your covering. Today your sight is sharp' 22 And one part of him will say: "This it is that has been ever-present with me!" 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 Who set up with Allah another god. So cast him ye twain into the torment severe. 26 ۞ His companion said: “I did not incite him to rebel; he was far gone into error of his own accord.” 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 “With Me, the decree does not change, and nor do I oppress the bondmen.” 29
