The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
