The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is the Book of Allah: there is no doubt about it. It is guidance to Godfearing people, 2 Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them; 3 And who believe in that which has been bestowed from on high upon thee, [O Prophet,] as well as in that which was bestowed before thy time: for it is they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 These are guided by their Lord; these surely are the prosperous. 5 Those who disbelieve, whether you forewarn them or not, they will not believe. 6 Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). 7
