NOW, VERILY, it is We who have created man, and We know what his innermost self whispers within him: for We are closer to him than his neck-vein. 16 Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left. 17 each word he utters shall be noted down by a vigilant guardian. 18 And death's agony comes in truth; that is what thou wast shunning! 19 And the Trumpet shall be blown; that is the Day of the Threat. 20 And every soul cometh, along with it a driver and a witness. 21 (And unto the evil-doer it is said): Thou wast in heedlessness of this. Now We have removed from thee thy covering, and piercing is thy sight this day. 22 His companion will say: "Here is (the record) I have ready with me." 23 Do cast into hell every ungrateful, rebellious one, 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 who set up with God another god; therefore, you twain, cast him into the terrible chastisement.' 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
