The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
