He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
